For the last 21 years CIFF has put its heart and soul into creating a unique film festival to entertain and engage wide audiences by curating the most innovative and compelling films, and creating remarkable festival experiences!

The first Calgary International Film Festival was held for six days and was attended by 8,000 people. Within three years, attendance had more than doubled to over 20,000 for the expanded 10-day festival. Our most successful festival so far featured 171 amazing films screened over 12 days, representing nearly 50 countries, and enhanced the festival experience by hosting over 150 filmmakers onsite heightening fan-filmmaker interaction and welcoming over 40,000 guests. That festival was put together by 12 permanent staff, about 85 seasonal staff and over 400 devoted volunteers!

CIFF aspires to be Calgary’s most important annual cultural event and catalyst for economic diversification. Every year, the Calgary International Film Festival is a major contributor to the city’s cultural vibrancy. With a rapidly growing audience of nearly 40,000 attendees, the 12-day festival is one Calgary’s largest annually recurring events. We are also a year-round arts and culture organization devoted to supporting our local filmmakers, youth, and enriching Calgary audiences through engaging films.

CIFF is both a registered charity and not-for-profit arts and culture organization operating 365 days of the year, and relies on support from individuals, Film Circle patrons, corporate festival sponsors, and a network of over 400 volunteers.

CIFF also accepts online donations when purchasing passes and ticket through our online ticketing system.

Calgary International Film Festival Society is a not-for-profit organization, and a registered charity (Charitable Registration Number: 864856927RR0001).
